Welcome to the Settlement Website - LexisNexis File Dispute Report Class

A Settlement was reached in a class action lawsuit involving certain reports sold by LexisNexis.  You will benefit from the proposed $13.5 million Settlement if you (1) requested a copy of an Accurint® report about you, and/or (2) you initiated or submitted a dispute or other inquiry about information in an Accurint® report about you and you did not exclude yourself from the settlement class. If either of these statements are true about you, you are a member of the Rule 23(b)(3) class.

The payment amounts received by Class Members depend on the number of individuals that remain in the Class. It is estimated that Class Members will receive about $300.  If you received a postcard notice about the Settlement in the mail you do not need to do anything to get a payment.  The Settlement Administrator will begin mailing checks to Class Members on February 23, 2017.

The Final Approval Hearing was held on December 10, 2013.  Judge Spencer took the matter under advisement to decide whether to finally approve or reject the settlement.  On September 5, 2014, Judge Spencer granted the Motion for Final Approval and the Motion for Attorneys’ Fees and denied the Motion to Amend.  An Objector filed an appeal.  The Fourth Circuit Court of Appeals affirmed Judge Spencer’s approval of the settlement on December 4, 2015.  The Supreme Court denied review of the Fourth Circuit’s decision on October 3, 2016.  The settlement is now effective.

If you are a member of the class, your legal rights are affected by the Settlement even if you did nothing in response to the notice earlier sent to you.  This website provides more information about the lawsuit and the Settlement.
